Hong Kong’s dim sum scene ranges from historic Michelin-endorsed institutions to casual local favorites, and rankings can vary by personal preference (e.g., traditional vs. innovative, fine dining vs. neighborhood casual). Below is a widely cited ranked list of 5 top dim sum restaurants, curated based on critical acclaim, local reputation, culinary quality, and cultural significance: 1. **Tim Ho Wan (Sham Shui Po Original Branch)** The world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant when it first earned a star in 2009, this no-frills neighborhood spot is legendary for its affordable, perfectly executed classic dim sum. Its signature baked barbecue pork buns (flaky, sweet-savory, and oozing with tender char siu) are universally hailed as the best in Hong Kong. Other must-tries include steamed vermicelli rolls with shrimp and siu mai. It remains a favorite among locals for its consistent quality and unpretentious vibe. 2. **Lung King Heen (Central, Four Seasons Hotel)** The first Cantonese restaurant in the world to earn three Michelin stars, Lung King Heen sets the standard for luxury dim sum. Helmed by celebrity chef Chan Yan-tak, it offers elevated classic and creative dim sum with panoramic views of Victoria Harbour. Standouts include the baked abalone and pork puff, steamed lobster dumplings, and the signature golden egg yolk buns (salted egg custard that flows out when bitten). It is a top pick for special occasions, though reservations are essential. 3. **Lin Heung Tea House (Central)** A historic institution founded in 1926, Lin Heung is the best place to experience old-school Hong Kong dim sum culture. It retains traditional touches: dim sum is served from roaming metal carts, tea is brewed at the table with gongfu-style service, and the menu features hard-to-find classic dishes like steamed lotus leaf rice, char siu bao (steamed barbecue pork buns), and siu mai with quail egg. The bustling, no-reservation atmosphere is part of its charm, and it is beloved by locals for its authentic, unmodified flavors. 4. **Duddell’s (Central)** A stylish, art-filled Michelin-starred restaurant that balances traditional Cantonese technique with modern refinement. Duddell’s dim sum menu features both classic favorites and creative twists, such as truffle siu mai, crispy prawn cheung fun, and wagyu beef puff. It also has a casual ground-floor dim sum bar for walk-ins, making it more accessible than many high-end options. Its blend of elegant ambiance, top-tier food, and a curated art collection has made it a favorite among both locals and visitors. 5. **Mott 32 (Central)** A sleek, trendy restaurant known for its innovative dim sum and glamorous, industrial-chic decor. While it offers a full Cantonese menu, its dim sum is a major draw, with creative options like the signature quail egg siu mai with Iberico pork, black truffle and mushroom dumplings, and baked crab roe buns. It is a popular spot for a more contemporary dim sum experience, though it leans more upscale and creative than traditional neighborhood spots.

Really enjoyed the food and the service staff were attentive and helpful.
The location very easy to find. Just inside Kowloon hotel. All you can eat dim sum buffet at $251/person! All dim sum are so delicious and the bbq pork is so tender 🤤. 2 hours all you can eat and they won't rush you to get out!!
