Liao Za Lie is a **Shaanxi-style Chinese restaurant** in **Causeway Bay**, on **Jardine’s Crescent** in Hong Kong.[2][10] It’s described as a casual eatery known for dishes like **rou jia mo**, **biangbiang noodles**, spicy stir-fries, and sharing dishes such as Sichuan fish with pickled mustard.[2][4][9] On reservations: I **don’t see reliable evidence in the results that it takes reservations**.[2][12] The sources I found list the address, cuisine, and opening hours, but not a booking policy.[2][12] If you want, I can also help you figure out whether it’s currently open or what to order there.

- **Ho Hung Kee, Causeway Bay** — Michelin-recognized for delicate wonton noodles and refined Cantonese comfort food. - **Mak’s Noodle, Central** — An iconic Hong Kong institution serving springy shrimp-wonton noodles in a rich, savory broth. - **Kau Kee Restaurant, Central** — Famous for deeply flavored beef brisket noodles, ideal for a relaxed, local-style dinner. - **Lau Sum Kee Noodle, Sham Shui Po** — Known for its signature dried shrimp roe noodles and old-school neighborhood character. - **Sister Wah Beef Noodle, Tin Hau** — A beloved spot for tender beef brisket noodles in a robust, aromatic soup.
Here is a ranked list of the top 5 noodle restaurants in Hong Kong, each representing a legendary and distinct style of the city's noodle culture: ### 1. Mak’s Noodle (麥奀雲吞麵世家) * **Specialty:** Traditional Wonton Noodles (Cantonese) * **Why it’s ranked #1:** Mak’s is the gold standard for traditional Hong Kong wonton noodles. The portions are deliberately small to keep the egg noodles from getting soggy in the broth. The noodles have the ultimate *al dente* "snap," the wontons are filled entirely with fresh, sweet sea prawn, and the broth (made with dried flounder, dried shrimp, and pork bones) is pure umami. * *Flagship Location: 77 Wellington Street, Central* ### 2. Sister Wah (華姐清湯腩) * **Specialty:** Clear Broth Beef Brisket Noodles * **Why it’s ranked #2:** A perennial Michelin Bib Gourmand pick, Sister Wah is renowned for its melt-in-your-mouth beef brisket served with flat rice noodles (*hor fun*). Unlike heavier curry or stewed brisket styles, Sister Wah uses a clear, delicate radish-and-beef broth that is naturally sweet, light, and deeply flavorful. * *Location: 13A Electric Road, Tin Hau* ### 3. Kau Kee Food Cafe (九記牛腩) * **Specialty:** Curry Beef Tendon and Brisket E-Fu Noodles * **Why it’s ranked #3:** One of the most famous eateries in Hong Kong, Kau Kee is legendary for its intense, slow-cooked beef brisket. While their clear broth is great, the absolute star is the rich, spiced Curry Beef Tendon served over flat *e-fu* (braised wheat) noodles, which soak up the thick sauce perfectly. Expect long queues and brusque service, but the food justifies it. * *Location: 21 Gough Street, Central* ### 4. Lau Sum Kee Noodle (劉森記麵家) * **Specialty:** Jook-Sing (Bamboo-pressed) Noodles with Dried Shrimp Roe * **Why it’s ranked #4:** Lau Sum Kee is one of the very few surviving shops that still makes *Jook-sing* noodles from scratch, using a massive bamboo log that the chef rides like a seesaw to knead the dough. The signature order is the tossed (dry) noodles generously coated in savory, toasted dried shrimp roe (*ha ji*), accompanied by a bowl of broth on the side. * *Location: 48 Kweilin Street, Sham Shui Po* ### 5. Sing Lum Khui (星林居) * **Specialty:** Yunnan-style Sour and Spicy Rice Noodles (*Mixian*) * **Why it’s ranked #5:** Yunnan rice noodles are a massive part of modern Hong Kong dining culture. Sing Lum Khui serves chewy, round rice noodles in a deeply complex sweet, sour, and numbing spicy broth. The experience is fully customizable—you choose the spice level, sourness, and custom toppings like pork belly, dried bean curd sheets, and beef balls. * *Location: 23 Lock Road, Tsim Sha Tsui*

I don't have reliable current information about which specific noodle restaurants are operating in Causeway Bay tonight. Restaurant openings, closures, and locations change frequently. Biang biang noodles were not good. There was no salt, soy or oyster sauce, don’t think there was any black vinegar either. Just oil Garlic and chili. Texture was nice, but for one of their signature dishes it was flavorless.
