I don't have reliable real-time information about specific Japanese restaurants currently operating near Prat Ave in Causeway Bay. Restaurant details change frequently (closures, relocations, changes in cuisine). For accurate, current recommendations, I'd suggest: - **Google Maps** - Search "Japanese restaurants near Prat Ave" - **OpenRice** - Hong Kong's main dining app with current reviews and hours - **Timeout Hong Kong** - Local curated guides - **Asking your hotel concierge** This will ensure you get places that are actually open tonight with current hours and menus.

Asked: “What are the best Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong? Give me a ranked list of 5 with the restaurant names.”
Hong Kong’s Japanese dining scene is exceptionally diverse, spanning ultra-exclusive omakase, casual kaiseki, and specialty sushi counters. Below is a ranked list of 5 standout restaurants, evaluated on food quality, craftsmanship, consistency, and overall experience: 1. **Sushi Saito (八樓)** Often cited as the gold standard of Japanese sushi outside Tokyo, this 3-Michelin-starred outpost of Tokyo’s legendary Sushi Saito is led by chef Takashi Saito’s hand-picked protégé, Chef Masaki Saito. It specializes in edomae-style sushi, with ultra-fresh fish flown in daily from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market, perfectly seasoned shari (sushi rice), and precise, understated technique. The 20+ course omakase menu changes seasonally, highlighting rare ingredients like hairy crab in autumn and botan shrimp in winter. With only 10 seats at the counter, it offers an intimate, immersive experience. It is one of the hardest reservations to secure in Hong Kong. 2. **Kikunoi Honten (吉兆 本店)** A 3-Michelin-starred kaiseki restaurant from Kyoto, Kikunoi’s Hong Kong outpost is led by Chef Yoshihiro Murata, a pioneer of modern kaiseki who balances traditional Japanese culinary philosophy with local Hong Kong ingredients. The multi-course kaiseki menu follows the Japanese seasons, with dishes that are as visually stunning as they are flavorful, from delicate clear soups to slow-braised wagyu and seasonal sashimi. The restaurant’s serene, minimalist interior (with private tatami rooms) and attentive service make it ideal for special occasions. 3. **Sushi Onodera (鮨 小野寺)** A 2-Michelin-starred edomae sushi counter from Tokyo, Sushi Onodera is beloved for its consistent quality and approachable (relative to other top omakase spots) vibe. Led by Chef Masahiro Onodera, the restaurant sources premium fish from Toyosu Market, with a focus on classic edomae techniques like aging fish to deepen flavor and using a blend of red and white vinegars for the shari. The omakase menu includes around 15-18 pieces of sushi, plus appetizers and a hand roll, and the counter seating allows for lively interaction with the chefs. It is slightly easier to book than Sushi Saito and offers excellent value for a high-end sushi experience. 4. **Wagyu Takumi (和牛 卓見)** A 2-Michelin-starred restaurant specializing in premium Japanese wagyu and teppanyaki, Wagyu Takumi is a must for meat lovers. Chef Toshiyuki Takumi sources rare wagyu breeds (like Hokkaido snow beef and Kagoshima A5 wagyu) and prepares them using a range of techniques, from teppanyaki grilling to sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. The menu also includes seasonal sashimi and small plates to balance the rich wagyu, and the intimate counter setting lets guests watch the chefs expertly prepare each dish. It is one of the best places in Hong Kong for authentic, high-quality wagyu. 5. **Ippoh (一宝)** A 1-Michelin-starred tempura restaurant from Tokyo, Ippoh is a standout in Hong Kong’s crowded Japanese dining scene for its masterful tempura technique. Founded in 1850, the restaurant uses a secret batter recipe and pristine seasonal ingredients (from sweet shrimp and sea urchin to seasonal vegetables) fried at precise temperatures to create light, crispy tempura that is never greasy. The omakase menu includes around 15 pieces of tempura, served with dipping sauce and grated daikon, plus rice and miso soup. The cozy counter and friendly chefs make it a great choice for a casual yet exceptional meal. Note: Reservations for all these restaurants are highly recommended, often weeks or months in advance for the top spots.
