“Hot Point” in Hong Kong is **most likely the dim sum restaurant in Prince Edward**, not the similarly named **Hotspot** in Causeway Bay. The Prince Edward Hot Point is a **Hong Kong-style dim sum / Cantonese** place, and it is in the **Prince Edward** neighborhood near the MTR station.[2][3][4] - **Cuisine:** Chinese, specifically **Cantonese / Hong Kong-style dim sum**.[2][3][4] - **Neighbourhood:** **Prince Edward** (Nathan Road / Lai Yin Building area, near Prince Edward MTR Exit A).[3][4] - **Reservations:** I did **not** find a clear reservation policy in the results for Hot Point, so I can’t confirm whether it takes reservations.[2][3][4] If you meant **Hotspot** in **Causeway Bay** instead, that is a **Chinese hot pot / seafood / soup** restaurant, also with no reservation policy clearly stated in the results I found.[1][11][15]

Asked: “What are the best Dim Sum restaurants in Hong Kong? Give me a ranked list of 5 with the restaurant names.”
Hong Kong is renowned for its dim sum, with a mix of historic tea houses, Michelin-starred fine dining spots, and neighborhood favorites that have perfected the craft over generations. Below is a ranked list of 5 standout dim sum restaurants, chosen for their quality, heritage, innovation, and authentic local experience: 1. **Tim Ho Wan (Sham Shui Po Original Branch)** The world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant when it first earned a star in 2009, this no-frills local spot is famous for perfecting classic dim sum at accessible prices. Its signature baked BBQ pork buns (flaky, sweet-savory, and oozing with tender char siu) are widely considered the best in Hong Kong. The original Sham Shui Po location retains a casual, neighborhood vibe, with quick service and consistently fresh, made-to-order items like steamed rice rolls with shrimp and turnip cakes. It’s a must-visit for both locals and travelers seeking unpretentious, high-quality dim sum. 2. **Luk Yu Tea House (Central)** A historic institution founded in 1933, Luk Yu is the gold standard for old-school Hong Kong dim sum culture. With its vintage wood-paneled interiors, marble tables, and traditional trolley service (where servers push carts of freshly steamed dim sum through the dining room), it feels like a step back in time. The menu leans into classic, time-honored dishes: har gow (shrimp dumplings) with translucent, thin skins packed with plump shrimp, siu mai with pork and mushroom, and sweet egg tarts with buttery, flaky crusts. It’s a favorite among long-time locals and is perfect for anyone wanting to experience traditional Hong Kong tea house atmosphere. 3. **Duddell’s (Central)** A Michelin-starred contemporary Cantonese restaurant that elevates dim sum to fine dining while honoring traditional flavors. Helmed by award-winning chefs, Duddell’s offers both classic dim sum and creative, modern twists, such as truffle siu mai, wagyu beef puff pastries, and steamed lobster dumplings. The elegant, art-filled space (it has a rotating collection of contemporary Chinese art) and refined service make it ideal for special occasions, though it still retains the warmth of a traditional tea house. Its weekend dim sum brunch is particularly popular, with unlimited servings of signature dishes paired with premium teas. 4. **Lin Heung Tea House (Central)** Another iconic old-school tea house dating back to 1928, Lin Heung is beloved for its unapologetically traditional, no-frills vibe and authentic dim sum. It’s one of the last remaining spots in Hong Kong that still uses traditional bamboo steamers and serves dim sum from roaming trolleys, with servers calling out dish names in Cantonese as they pass. Must-tries include the lotus leaf rice (sticky rice with chicken, sausage, and mushrooms steamed in a fragrant lotus leaf), steamed pork ribs with black bean sauce, and the famous giant siu mai. It’s a bustling, lively spot where visitors can soak up local culture alongside regulars. 5. **Yat Lok Restaurant (Central)** While Yat Lok is most famous for its roast goose, its dim sum menu is a hidden gem that ranks among the best in the city. This casual, family-run spot has been serving Cantonese classics for decades, and its dim sum is made fresh daily with high-quality ingredients. Standouts include the crispy fried taro dumplings (crunchy on the outside, soft and savory inside), steamed rice rolls with roast goose (a unique twist on a classic), and sweet mango pomelo sago for dessert. It’s a great pick for travelers who want to pair great dim sum with Hong Kong’s iconic roast meats, all at reasonable prices.

Truly excellent, freshly made dim sum, but there's usually a short queue. The air conditioning is way too strong. Shame about the service, when we complained about the cold and asked to change seats, we were dismissed quite rudely and told the whole place was the same temperature
