**Cheung Hing Kee Shanghai Pan Fried Buns** is a Hong Kong spot best known for **Shanghai-style pan-fried buns** (*sheng jian bao*), along with related Chinese noodle and dumpling dishes.[2][6][11][14] - **Cuisine:** primarily **Chinese / Shanghai-style** street-food-style fare, especially crispy-bottomed pan-fried buns with pork or other fillings; some listings also include dumplings, noodles, and soup dishes.[1][6][11][14] - **Neighbourhood:** the well-known outlet is on **Lock Road in Tsim Sha Tsui**, Kowloon, near Kowloon Park; the restaurant also has other branches elsewhere in Hong Kong.[2][4][6][12] - **Reservations:** I **don’t see any evidence that it takes reservations** in the sources I found, and the place is described more like a small, popular takeaway-style shop than a reservation restaurant.[2][8][14] If you want, I can also tell you about its signature dishes or how crowded it usually gets.

# Best Shanghainese Restaurants in Hong Kong I should note that the restaurant scene changes frequently, and my information has a knowledge cutoff date. That said, here are 5 well-regarded Shanghainese restaurants that have been popular in Hong Kong: 1. **Jade Shanghai** - Known for authentic Shanghai cuisine and xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) 2. **Bacchanal Shanghai** - Upscale dining with traditional Shanghai dishes and dim sum 3. **Long Jiang** - Casual venue popular for traditional Shanghai comfort food 4. **Yu Chu** - Specializes in Shanghai-style preparation and fresh ingredients 5. **Qingyun Lou** - Traditional Shanghai establishment known for classic dishes **Important caveats:** - Restaurants open, close, or change quality frequently - Rankings depend heavily on personal preferences (authentic vs. upscale, casual vs. fine dining) - Current reviews on Google Maps, TripAdvisor, or OpenRice (popular in Hong Kong) would give you more up-to-date information I'd recommend checking recent reviews on local platforms or asking locals for current recommendations, as the dining scene in Hong Kong evolves rapidly.

I appreciate your question, but I should be honest: I don't have reliable current information about specific Shanghainese restaurants in Kowloon. Restaurant details change frequently (closures, relocations, name changes), and I can't verify what's currently operating or their exact locations. For the most accurate, up-to-date recommendations, I'd suggest: - Google Maps/Search: "Shanghainese restaurants Kowloon" - OpenRice or Yelp for user reviews - Asking locals or your hotel concierge This way you'll get current operating hours and availability for tonight.

I'd recommend confirming current operations, recent reviews, and booking ahead on platforms like OpenRice or Google Maps before visiting. Asking your hotel concierge for current recommendations is also wise.

Food kiosk with a standing counter; pretty much streetside dining. Service was quick and friendly enough. Buns were not bad, but fell short of my expectations. Nowhere near authentic shanghai ones. Decent, but not worth traveling for, imo.
