Cafe 100% (Wah Sum Estate) is a **Hong Kong-style tea restaurant / cha chaan teng chain** branch in Fanling, located in **Wah Sum Shopping Centre, Wah Sum Estate** in the **New Territories**.[1][3][11] Its cuisine is **mainly Chinese and Western-style cha chaan teng food**: the listing describes it as offering “diversified Chinese and Western cuisine,” with Hong Kong-style stir-fries, Western light meals, and set meals; food delivery listings also classify it as **Asian / Hong Kong / cha chaan teng**.[1][2][4] The neighbourhood is **Wah Sum Estate / Wah Sum Shopping Centre in Fanling**, which is a residential estate area in the New Territories; one source notes it is “deeply loved by the neighborhood,” suggesting it serves local residents.[1][3] I **could not confirm reservation policy** from the available results. The sources I found list the address, cuisine, and phone number, but they do **not explicitly say whether it takes reservations**.[3][10][11]

Here is a ranked list of the top 5 *Cha Chaan Tengs* (Hong Kong-style cafes) in Hong Kong, taking into account food quality, historical significance, and the authentic local experience: ### 1. Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司) * **Location:** Jordan, Kowloon * **Why it’s ranked #1:** It is the undisputed king of the quintessential Cha Chaan Teng experience. Famous as much for its lightning-fast, notoriously blunt service as it is for its food, ADC serves what is widely considered the best, fluffiest scrambled eggs in Hong Kong. * **Must-try:** Scrambled eggs on thick buttered toast, steamed milk pudding, and macaroni with ham in chicken broth. ### 2. Mido Cafe (美都餐室) * **Location:** Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon * **Why it’s ranked #2:** Operating since 1950, Mido Cafe offers unmatched retro nostalgia. Sitting on the second floor by the curved green window frames overlooking the Temple Street Tin Hau Temple feels like stepping straight onto a 1960s Wong Kar-wai film set. * **Must-try:** Baked pork chop rice, fried thick noodles with ribs, and Hong Kong-style French toast. ### 3. Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園) * **Location:** Central (Gage Street original stall), Hong Kong Island * **Why it’s ranked #3:** Lan Fong Yuen claims to be the inventor of Hong Kong’s iconic "Silk Stocking" milk tea (panted through a sackcloth filter that resembles a pantyhose). Starting as an open-air street stall (*dai pai dong*) in 1952, it remains a pillar of local culinary history. * **Must-try:** Iced silk stocking milk tea, chicken chop noodles with ginger-scallion sauce, and traditional pork chop bun. ### 4. Kam Wah Cafe (金華冰廳) * **Location:** Prince Edward, Kowloon * **Why it’s ranked #4:** While technically a *Bing Sutt* (the predecessor to the Cha Chaan Teng), Kam Wah is crowned with having the absolute best Pineapple Bun (*Bolo Bao*) in the city. Served fresh from the oven with a thick slab of melting, cold butter wedged inside, the contrast of hot, crunchy pastry and cold dairy is legendary. * **Must-try:** Pineapple bun with butter (*Bolo Yau*), egg tarts, and hot milk tea. ### 5. Sun Heung Yuen (新香園 - 堅記) * **Location:** Sham Shui Po, Kowloon * **Why it’s ranked #5:** Situated in the working-class, foodie heartland of Sham Shui Po, Sun Heung Yuen is open 24/7 and trades modern hype for deep, rich flavors. It is renowned across the city for a specific staple that is uniquely executed: a hot, savory beef and egg sandwich. * **Must-try:** Corned beef and egg toasted sandwich (ask for it *Hong Tei* / toasted), and red bean ice.

# Best Cha Chaan Teng in Hong Kong I should note that my information has a knowledge cutoff and restaurant quality can fluctuate, so I'd recommend checking recent reviews on Google Maps or Openrice. That said, here are 5 historically well-regarded options: 1. **Tsui Wah (翠華)** - Popular chain known for classic dishes, reliable quality, and good value 2. **Sing Fung (杏風)** - Reputation for higher quality ingredients and well-executed traditional dishes 3. **Cafe de Coral (大家樂)** - Extensive chain with good consistency and affordable pricing 4. **Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle (香港豉油雞飯&麵)** - Known for excellent chicken rice, though more specialized than full cha chaan teng menu 5. **Cha Chaan Teng (茶餐廳)** in Sham Shui Po - The neighborhood itself is famous for traditional options with authentic atmosphere **Tips for finding great ones:** - Sham Shui Po and Mong Kok areas have many authentic local favorites - Neighborhoods matter more than chains for authentic experience - Check recent reviews on Openrice or Google Maps for current recommendations Would you like suggestions for specific dishes to try or neighborhoods to explore?

# 5 Cha Chaan Teng Recommendations for Hong Kong 1. **Tsui Wah (多間分店)** – Reliable chain with better ambiance than typical Cha Chaan Tengs, perfect for group dining. 2. **Lin Heung Tea House (蓮香樓)** – Historic institution with vibrant atmosphere and excellent dim sum carts for sharing. 3. **Café de Coral (大快活)** – Upscale branches offer a more refined setting while maintaining authentic menu classics. 4. **Mak's Noodle (麥奀雲吞麵)** – Iconic for handmade noodles and wonton soup, great for a casual yet memorable experience. 5. **Cha Chaan Teng (Central)** – Central location institution with retro charm and crowd-pleasing comfort food fare. **Note:** Most Cha Chaan Tengs are inherently casual, so for a truly "special" dinner, choose off-peak hours, make reservations where possible, or look for branches in better locations (Central, Causeway Bay) that tend to be less hectic. Expect a fun, lively atmosphere rather than fine dining.

Asked: “What are the best Cha Chaan Teng restaurants in Hong Kong? Give me a ranked list of 5 with the restaurant names.”
Cha chaan teng (Hong Kong-style tea restaurants) are beloved for their affordable, nostalgic fusion of Cantonese and Western comfort food, and rankings often come down to local loyalty, signature dishes, and decades of unchanging quality. Below is a ranked list of 5 iconic, widely celebrated spots, ordered by their cultural legacy, consistency, and local acclaim: 1. **Australia Dairy Company (澳洲牛奶公司)** The undisputed gold standard for classic cha chaan teng, this Jordan institution has been run by the same family since 1970. It is famous for its silky steamed milk pudding (both white and yolk-enriched golden versions), buttery scrambled egg toast, and macaroni soup with ham. The no-frills, fast-paced service (locals joke about the "30-minute dining time limit") is part of its charm, and lines snaking down the street are a daily sight. It is consistently named the top cha chaan teng in local food surveys for its unwavering quality of staple dishes. 2. **Mido Cafe (美都餐室)** A 1950s Yau Ma Tei landmark and one of the oldest surviving cha chaan tengs in Hong Kong, Mido Cafe is as famous for its retro decor (checkered floor tiles, ceiling fans, wooden booths, and a second-floor view of the Temple Street night market) as it is for its food. Signature dishes include baked pork chop rice, pineapple buns with butter, and Hong Kong-style milk tea made with a decades-old recipe. It has appeared in countless Hong Kong films and TV shows, and is a go-to for visitors and locals craving a taste of mid-20th century cha chaan teng culture. 3. **Capital Café (華星冰室)** Founded in Wan Chai in 2011 by former employees of the iconic, now-defunct Capital Artists record label, this modern classic quickly earned a cult following for elevating traditional cha chaan teng dishes without losing their authenticity. Its most famous offerings are the silky scrambled egg sandwich (made with free-range eggs and a secret butter blend), baked macaroni with cheese and ham, and iced milk tea. It has expanded to multiple locations across Hong Kong, but the original Wan Chai branch remains the most beloved for its cozy, nostalgic vibe. 4. **Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園)** A Central institution founded in 1952, Lan Fong Yuen is widely credited with inventing Hong Kong-style silk-stocking milk tea, made by straining strong black tea through a silk stocking-like cloth to achieve a smooth, rich flavor. Its other signature dishes include crispy pork chop buns, instant noodles with satay beef, and pineapple buns. The original Gage Street stall (a tiny, standing-room-only spot) and its adjacent sit-down branch are always packed with office workers and tourists, and it is a must-visit for anyone wanting to try the definitive version of Hong Kong milk tea. 5. **Sun Hing Restaurant (新興食家)** A Kennedy Town staple since 1978, Sun Hing is famous for its late-night service (it stays open until 4 a.m.) and generous portions of comfort food. Its most beloved dishes include the giant pineapple bun (big enough for two people), baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce, and congee with youtiao (fried dough). It is a favorite hangout for locals after work or late-night outings, and its lively, no-fuss atmosphere perfectly captures the neighborhood cha chaan teng spirit.
